Katie Thompson, M.Ed., has 37 years experience in education as an elementary and middle school teacher, gifted/talented advanced reading and math teacher, mentor program coordinator and teacher, W.E.B. (Where Everybody Belongs) coordinator through the Boomerang Project, lead teacher, and most recently, district elementary instructional coach. Katie has extensive training and experience in teaching using arts integration through the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, training teachers throughout the state of Montana on the huge impact teaching using the arts has on student engagement and academic success. Katie’s passion for the gifted child has always impacted her teaching and coaching and can be seen through one of her greatest accomplishments, creating an advanced 5th grade math curriculum with a fellow colleague. Katie loves partnering with teachers to help them with classroom management, working with challenging students, Science of Reading and math instruction, teaching the gifted child, using Arts Integration in the classroom, and data decision making for all students. Her passion for education is seen through her daily interactions with teachers, students, and staff. In her opinion, there is nothing better than seeing and celebrating with teachers as they grow with confidence in their teaching skills and learn the positive impact they have on their students. When that happens, children thrive and have academic, emotional, and social successes, which is a goal Katie has for all teachers. When not at work, Katie loves being at their cabin on the edge of Yellowstone Park, spending time with her husband and adult children, walking her dog, and attending her beloved Jazzercise classes.
